Court Grants Bail to Key Accused in Fatal BMW Accident Involving Finance Ministry Official

Bail Granted in High-Profile BMW Accident Case

New Delhi: A New Delhi court has granted bail to Gaganpreet Kaur, the primary suspect in a tragic BMW accident case that resulted in the death of a senior finance ministry official.

The 38-year-old Kaur is alleged to have been driving the BMW that collided with a two-wheeler operated by Navjot Singh, a 52-year-old government employee, and his spouse.

Singh tragically lost his life in the incident, while his wife sustained serious injuries.

Judicial Magistrate Ankit Garg ordered Kaur's release on a personal bond of ₹1 lakh, requiring two sureties of the same amount.

Additionally, Kaur must surrender her passport as a condition of her bail.

The court is expected to issue a detailed order regarding the case soon.

Prior to the ruling, the court highlighted that an ambulance arrived at the scene but lingered for approximately 30 seconds instead of promptly transporting the injured to a hospital.

Navjot Singh succumbed to his injuries sustained on September 14 on Ring Road near the Delhi Cantonment Metro station.

He served as a deputy secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs and resided in Hari Nagar, West Delhi.

At the time of the accident, Singh and his wife were returning home after visiting the Bangla Sahib Gurdwara.

An FIR has been filed under various sections, including 281 (rash driving), 125B (endangering life or personal safety of others), and 105 and 238 (causing disappearance of evidence).
